I was into it for 3 months in the 80's. I went 'cold turkey' after looking in the mirror, and being able to see the ribs on my back. At 5'7" I should not have been weighing 118 - that's just wrong.

I'm in the Netherlands and I know people. Possessing small amounts of narcotics like coke is basically decriminalized. I've heard they'll even give you back your stuff. I'll stick to caffeine, nicotine, and a little bit of THC.

The only other activities I was involved with that night were drinking beer and playing cards. I think my body was trying to tell me something...maybe that doing coke was not something I should be doing? Regardless...I have not touched it since.

The problem is most people don't use it correctly. Coke is great for when you are really drunk but want to keep partying. A nice rope will wake you right up. The problem is with people who use it for no reason. People who get all paranoid, become unable to speak because they are frozen or are inclined to chew air hoagies shouldn't do it.

17. That's how we were using it...

We weren't coke fiends sitting in a room for days on end snorting coke. We would do it in Vegas while drinking, or when we got together to play cards. I just decided that it is something I don't need to be messing with anymore -- especially since I have two children to take care of.

it was a favorite party item within our clique...that and poppers

anytime a new person was invited along or however they came to be, I would always tell them that some people die the first time they ingest... because their bodies can't "metabolize" the drug, so they OD. It's not common but it does happen...works along the same principle of getting clean and your tolerance drops, so just a small amount can kill you...even though you once did huge amounts.

and they would always...no exceptions....do it anyway.

It never failed to amaze me.

Alas, I gave it up. Kinda boring after a while. Fortunately, I wasn't addicted.
