Whether or not Steve Young is a Democrat or Republican has NO bearing on his qualifications for this job. Guess what -- MOST former football players, especially quarterbacks, are Republicans. John Elway, Dan Marino, and so on.

Now, if he were to say something as blatantly racist and hateful as Rush did, I'd be all for his ousting. But the reality is that he is knowledgable in his field of work, and he offers valuable insights into the game.

Do we really want to start judging people's qualification on political affiliation? What is it that you want -- for the US to be like the former USSR?

However, he needs to be reminded to keep politics out of his analysis, which he did not do this season. He put in a few one-liners that had no place in a football show.

and from what I know he isn't a racist. He talks football, I don't have a problem with it. Firing based on political affiliation is not right, in fact it is discrimination I believe.
