I kid you not! Of course I heard "dim son", and I'm not sure if he actually knew what he was saying... but it was still a delight to hear someone on the air being so refreshingly honest.

1. "dim son" doesn't strike me as a term that meteorologists use often

The sun itself never dims...so wouldn't it be more apropriate to say "dim sunlight" or some such nonsense? I think he knew exactly what he was saying.
