Couple of weeks ago, I had a talk with an ultra-right wing B*sh-worshipper, and came out of it okay; just needed some DU love.

Today, had another kool-aid drinking sicko in, and I'm unspeakably depressed. He was one of those armchair warriors who never served a day in the armed forces, but thinks he has all the answers on how to win a war, quick and easy. I felt like he would spit on my Gulf War medals if he had a chance. Called Kerry a "coward". Called B*sh the "greatest President ever". Shit like that.

Actually, I've never had to do that, thank goodness.

When I affix the tourniquet and tell them to make a fist, I ask them: "You're not gonna take a swing at me, are you? 'Cause I got this big needle, see? and..." :-)

That always gets a big laugh.

One of the docs where I work is an honest-to-God Vietnam vet, a chopper pilot. Unfortunately, he's been convinced that Kerry did wrong by his fellow soldiers. Can't do much about that at this point, though. Just hang in there.

the headline on the front page of my local paper reads "Area residents to attend inauguration". It includes someone in my small town who is a millionaire who donated a million dollars to the Bush campaign. My city has only 36,000. He gave enough for all of us together. Oh yeah, I heard he paid $70,000 a ticket to go to this event.:cry: How can you compete against that? He's genuinely a nice guy and gives away lots of money but how he believes politically is so totally against my grain.

13. Don't Feel Bad . . .I Almost Got Into A Fight At The Movies

I got into a big fight with one of those types after watching Fahrenheit 9/11 while leaving the movie outside the theatre. He screamed things like that out at the screen through the entire movie. It was bad enough that he was rude, obnoxious and inconsiderate, but he was so disillusioned and oblivious it made me sick. I finally told him to shut up and from there things got really bad. My fiance had to pull me away because I was ready to do battle (verbal of course). Sometimes its just better for all if people keep their stupidity hidden.

Actually, I shouldn't argue with patients at all; not professional. I couldn't help myself, though. For some reason, we started talking about Vietnam, and he smugly said: "Innit great to have a Preznit who won't let us lose a war, and won't walk away from it?" How do you ignore crap like that? :shrug:
