I think Bush may end up being impeached

I was watching the History Channel today, and they had a special on the Presidents. As they were discussing Nixon, I just got this feeling that Bush is going to end up down the same road. All this new stuff coming out on Abu Ghraib and the prison abuses will not be tolerated for very long.

If people get sick of the way of things in the mid-term election and we get a democratic congress, I see it happening.

We will see, I suppose.

Most presidents who've faced scandals, calls for impeachment and impeachment have done so in the 6th year of their presidency. Most likely owing to a general disgust which motivates a shift in voting habits at the mid-term.

If Democrats can win a majority in one or both houses and grow some back bone, it's not out of the question that at least, Bush could face a special prosecutor and a grand jury.

The difficulties and obstacles are numerous, ranging from general levels of citizen bamboozlement, perfidy at the polls and even spineless Democratic leaders. But it's possible.

Would like to think you are right, but the whole nation has changed (and not for the better) since the Nixon days. There is absolutely no shame, accountability, sanity in American politics.

There is also not much chance there will be accurate elections ANYTIME in the foreseeable future. Don't go pinning hopes on 2006. You are setting yourself up for more heartbreak. I honestly do not understand how any of us here could have thought the junta would let a fair vote happen in 04.

That would require two things:

(1) The mainstream media to report on whatever scandal brings him down, and

(2) The Republicans in Congress to vote to impeach him.

While I'd like to think our Congress persons would impeach a criminal President even if he were of their own party, I'm not holding my breath in hopes it will happen.

Unless dems can win Congress in 2006 I (sadly) don't see it happening.

He convinced people that he could get us out of Viet Nam quickly and with honor. Of course we all know how that turned out. That was when I began to wonder about this guy. My gawd, he bombed everybody and anybody, called escalation. So I now figure the reason Watergate was so devastating was the compounding of so many mistakes Nixon made. Does this sound familar?
