PRINCE Charles and lover Camilla Parker Bowles are to make their first official trip abroad together.



The highlight of their "breakthrough" tour will be a lavish reception at the White House, hosted by President George W. Bush.



Royal aides are planning the autumn tour, which they hope will soften the public view of Camilla.

She epitomises the English horsey-person, who not only loves horses (fine in itself) but looks like one too.

I'd guess it was America's 'turn' to get a royal visit, H.R.H. has been raising her profile slowly for quite some time. Also Americans are more relaxed about divorce than some more conservative places; besides there is an irony about America - perhaps they could fit in a visit to Mrs. Wallace-Simpson's hometown.

as far as Americans and Royalty are concerned.

In theory you want nothing to do with them, but you (not necessarily you personally, of course, but rather Americans in general) consume news, gossip &c. about them in even larger quantity than we do.

5. Interesting and hypocritical. I have read that Charles detests Junior.

He is a staunch environmentalist. He was against the Iraqi invasion. And, he did not wish to be present last year at Junior's reception at Buckingham Palace.

HRH later relented because of the Queen (a green herself) and royal protocol.

Gee, I wonder if Charles and Camilla will be staying in the Lincoln Bedroom which was "re-decorated" by Pickles last year?

7. Wasn't there some bad feelings left over from Bush's visit to Britain?

I was reading that the Queen was NOT happy over some of the arrogance that Bush brought with him when he visited Buckingham Palace last year.

I guees it's a case of let bygones be bygones. I wouldn't be so forgiving, myself.

8. He tore up the gardens at the Palace with his security and choppers.

Naturally, the Queen was royally pissed. I'm not sure if she ever received any money from the US for the damage. As I recall, the local government had to absorb the costs.
