Where I come from we have subs and hoagies,

no grinders or torpedos or heros and definitely not blimpies

11. I Had My First Grinder when I Went to Connecticut

The place was owned by a Greek family, and their grinders were made with a fantastic olive oil-and-vinegar dressing applied liberally to the shredded lettuce. I thought I'd died and gone to sammich heaven! For me, that olive oil-and-vinegar dressing defined the grinder. Otherwise, it's just a sub, hoagie, po'boy, dagwood or variation thereof.
