Seeking good thoughts for my mother and grandmother

My grandmother had to undergo serious emergency surgery tonight. She is 90, and so this was a Hobson's Choice situation; she is so old that the surgery was incredibly risky, but if she didn't get it, she was sure to die. She made it through the surgery tonight, but is not in strong shape.

My mother is the DUer known as Raven, and this is her mother. Raven's father passed about five years ago, so this is a very difficult time for her. She's my mom, so I would walk through fire for her, but a lot of you know her goodness and kindness from DU. Please give her and my grandmother your kindest thoughts tonight.

My grandfather has had some serious health problems and his doctor recently said that he needed surgery to have a valve replacement. The drawback is that it would not only be dangerous, but it would force him on dialysis for life. Grandpa says it ain't happening; he'd rather die than live like that.

My mom's mother died less than a year ago, so it's been tense, but my mother never, ever shows any emotion or admits any hardship. It's humbling to see such strong people in my life.

Sorry to ramble about my family, Will, I know this thread is for you. I wish the best for you, your grandmother, and your mother. I promise I'll think of you guys tonight.
