Turned down a terrific job offer: I feel GREAT!

My head was hunted & a great opportunity came my way. Too bad I'm comfortably retired & enjoy my role as "Mr Mom". After crunching all the numbers & checking over the pro & con list, I made the call.
This AM, I'm a FREE MAN. Hell, thinking about going back to work is about as stressful as actually having a GD job!

Enjoy yourself. My husband lived his job, he really loved it. He retired early because of a heart problem so we decided that he should and have some good time. After all those years of loving and living it he never looked back, never missed it and is happy and busier than ever.

5. Congrats! I may have to do the same thing

I got a call from a headhunter and went through two interviews, the last being this AM. I think I have the job, and I think I need to turn it down.

The pay is awesome. It is a 20K increase. The commute is huge though. 120 mile round trip. This means my wife would need to change her schedule, and I would lose time seeing my boys growing up.

I think I am just going to have to find something closer.

7. Here's a laugh - I've been wanting to get a job nearer home

or at least, in Las Vegas.

Anyway, I see a number of ads in the Sunday paper - several weeks running.

Looks like I could qualify. I'm sure the pay might be okay (I might be willing to take a minor cut, just so I don't have to travel the 25 or so miles to where I'm working now).

InfoCision Management, near Fairlawn Ohio. Phone polling place. Needing computer geeks for their operation.

Why don't I apply?

1. The HUGE (possibly zoning laws violating) Bush/Cheney 04 sign last year

2. The fact that a newspaper article quoted them saying that they do a LOT of work for Republican candidates.

Maybe I should keep my mouth shut and apply, just to keep them honest. I wonder if they would recognize my name from the Letters to the Editor in the Akron Beacon Journal?

8. There's usually a reason that ads run for weeks at a time.

Working conditions may be bad, management may be dictatorial, turnover may be high, or perhaps (like you) others don't want to be associated with a RW company. Go ahead and apply if you think it'll be productive - just be sure to keep your eyes wide open at the interview and try to talk to current employees (if you can) to get a feel for the place.

Perhaps I should become a (wretch) private consultant & reap some of the gravy that is reserved for asshole repuke business men like ward connerly. I mean, if that sell-out prick can be a millionaire, what's to stop someone with a brain & principles like me? You know, I don't think you really need to be terribly smart or connected to get rich.
