I just wanted to offer a quick introduction - hi, DU!

My name is craig. I'm a 28 year old Liberal living in South Florida. I'm a Network Engineer by trade, but a geek by birth. I've been lurking here for a couple of months, but I've decided to go ahead and begin posting and throwing my proverbial 2 cents into the mix.

Politically, I'm pretty much Left-center. I consider myself a bit of a Financial conservative, but a total Social liberal. I have serious issues with people concerning themselves with what people do in the privacy of their bedrooms, their homes, etc, etc. I'm all about 'live and let live' - if no one is getting hurt.. have fun with it. Far be it for me, of all people, to judge people for their interests, quirks, or character traits.

Living in South Florida during the debacle of Nov / Dec 2000 was interesting, to state the least. I do, however, believe in the concept of Karma. Anyone that looks at what's happening now can see that Karma is rearing her ugly head in a bad way - and personally, I love it.

I am looking very forward to this election coming up - I got totally screwed in the election if '92 in that my 18th birthday fell the day after the election. I had to wait 3 years, 364 days after I turned 18 to vote for President.. damn, that hurt.

Personally, I'm a bit of a freak. I do alot of writing.. everything from Sci-Fi to dark, macabre stories, to twisted Erotica, and everything in between. I listen to alot of music that most people wouldn't consider 'mainstream'. I'm a talk radio junkie. I'm an information junkie, and I'm a person that LOVES to debate with others. Unlike El Rushbo, the 'Oxy'moron, I really do go up against most conservative weenies with 1/2 my brain tied behind my back. After all, I figure they deserve a fair fight :)

Oh, and one more quick thing.. I just thought of this.

7. Florida wise, I was born here..

I actually love this state. I hate the weather sometimes.. (too damn hot) but, overall, its not bad. And living in South Florida allows me access to alot of local clubs to see bands, and to hang out with other various 'fringe' type people that I seem to get along with rather well.

Don't worry, we delivered this state for the Democratic party in 2000, regardless of what 5 people on the Supreme Court might think, and we will again in 2004. And you know what, I'll freaking love it if our state is the 'teeter' point for the election. And our #s to be the last in, and JUST OUTSIDE the parameters for a recount.. by like, 10 votes. THAT will be Karma rearing her wicked streak, once again.. (And I do so love the women with the wicked streaks :) )

Have you noticed, by chance, that the particularly nasty stories (like the Rush is high, for instance) have reared their heads after a certain administration has pissed off the CIA? I bet you that this is only the beginning.. they'll keep the trickle effect up to keep twisting the thumbscrews. I love it. Come on, the CIA are experts at torture & psychological manipulation. They will steer the public to whatever suits their end in this situation.

So, like the kid from the Simpsons says whenever someone trips over their own two feet or chokes on a pretzel or drops their dog.. (poor dog, I would have run away and never come back if I was him).. HA-HA!

Oh, and yes, those are earrings.. (I had someone ask me not too long ago 'whats that down on your ear' - when I told her they were earrings, she freaked, like she's never seen a guy with pierced ears before)

33. You should see the size of the piercings guys here in SF have!

The big thing now? "Plugs" where you stretch out your ear piercing gradually till you can fit 1/4" up to 1 - 2" diameter "plugs". Some of them are translucent so you can see colored light through them. Pretty cool, but not for me. :)

The problem with stuff like that is I have to retain at least a semi-conservative type appearance based upon my line of work. Otherwise, I'd at least get my tongue pierced. I'm usually able to get away with the earrings at pretty much any work location, which is nice. (I'm a Contractor.. so I'm usually in and out of a place in like 4-8 weeks time)

The other thing about those plugs is I can't imagine what its like when they get to like 50 or 60 and decide they dont want them anymore.. they'll have this huge ugly hole in their ear.. dorks.
