I know only the briefest summary of the story, but am really looking forward to it.

How many stars do you guys and gals give it?

12. I give 'em major bonus points...
...for resurrecting a now-somewhat-obscure Blondie song.
("Atomic" from "Eat to the Beat")

3. I love discussing Videos ..only no one sees the same ones I
do! But I saw "Bend it like Beckham" the other night and I give it 5 stars! But I'm sappy that way! It's, of course, an English movie and right away that gives it a Great start..

Enjoy the video!

5. One of my semi-recent favorites was "Igby Goes Down"
if that tells you anything. I'm crazy about movies, though don't consider myself in any way an expert. I do seem to have impeccable taste, if I do say so myself ( and I'm the only one to say so for awhile!)

7. I liked "Igby goes down"! Darker than I like ..but I see the some
Edited on Fri Oct-03-03 07:37 PM by zidzi
of the dark ones, too! I just saw a Disney one that's called "Holes" of all things! But it's crazy good..PG13

It's one of those "underdog" makes good movies that I like so well.

Tim Blake Nelson is in it..Shia LeBeouf, Jon Voight, Sigourney Weaver and it's hysterical.

edit~ Actually Igby wasn't That dark...and it had a good ending!

17. Jeff Goldblum story
I really liked "Igby" and "Beckham", too. A friend of mine was in New York to see some Broadway plays right after we'd seen "Igby" and Jeff Goldblum was sitting in front of her. He turned around to talk to her and she punched him, gently, on the arm and told him he shouldn't have been so mean to Igby. He took it well. Apparently, Igby aside, he's a nice guy.

8. I loved it !
Good movie, good music. An added treat is that you get a glimpse of Indian culture. The clothing and the music are amazingly rich and colorful. If you enjoy that aspect of it...be sure to check out the movie "Monsoon Wedding".

15. Another overhyped import, I'm afraid
Really wanted to like it, but I'm afraid it wasn't terribly great. The stereotypes are painted a little too broadly, and it was pretty formulaic overall.

Parminder Nagra & Keira Knightley (from "Pirates of the Carribean") are super-cute, though. :loveya:

16. Be afraid, be very afraid!!!!!!!!
This was a movie that kept my interest from beginning to end. I felt for the characters, from the players to the parents. It would have had a bigger impact if it had been LONGER. I would like to see the characters depth explored more. If this was a hollywood movie, we would expect part two in a few months.

This was a very very (did I mention very) good movie.

19. Glad you liked it.
It's one of a handful of movies I've bought this year. I got some nice curries and did a Bend it Like Beckham, Monsoon Wedding double feature.
Juliet Stephenson was really funny and the guy playing her husband, Frank Harper, needs to be working a LOT more. The only other thing I've seen him in is Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels.
Only quibble was Jonathan Rhys Meyers who annoys me even when he isn't stuttering through an Irish accent.
