CAMDEN -- The principal of Pyne Poynt Middle School here has been charged with offering money to a male student to undress in his presence, Camden County Prosecutor Vincent Sarubbi said Tuesday.
Daniel L. Edwards, 55, was arrested at his home in Pennsauken. He was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and official misconduct, He was being held on $35,000 bail.
Edwards has been principal for approximately four years at the school for grades 6 to 8, located in North Camden.
A joint investigation by Camden Police and the Camden County Prosecutor's Office began when the 14-year-old victim came to the Camden Police Administration Building on Monday and reported that Edwards had approached him three times this month and asked him to remove various articles of clothing including his shirt, shoes, pants and "drawers," Sarubbi said.
During the most recent exchange, which allegedly occurred on Friday in the principal's office, the victim had a micro-cassette recorder hidden in his shirt pocket, Sarubbi said.
