Going to start bitch-slapping people
That say there's no good new music out there.

All I got to say is get off your ass and go to a club. The good stuff isn't going to be played on a Clear Channel station. You'll actually have to work to find it but once you do it will probably blow you away.

For about the 1,100th week in a row I just got back from a local club seeing some amazing rock-n-roll live. I go to shows anywhere from 1-5 times a week in both small and big clubs mostly in a small city that doesn't even have a big college to bring name bands in and every time I see bands that blow me away. Tonight was one of the best yet. Local bands The Red Skulls and The Star City Wildcats opening for Chapel Hill NC's Jimmy and the Teasers. Man what a night of rock it was!!!Two hours later I'm still giddy!

3. Go Indy
Listen to some of the stuff at MP3.com, IUMA, and some of the streaming-audio "stations" on the Net. There's some excellent music out there, and you won't have the RIAA Gestapo to contend with.

4. Pardon me but
I know you probably are well-intentioned but the term "bitch slap" is actually pretty offensive.

Why does the term have to be qualified by linking it up with abuse of women?

I know I'll probably be flamed for this. I would like to think that we could stop the acceptance of that term and the connotations of abuse it carries.

I'm old but I enjoy some of the new music and, you're right, it sure isn't on Clear Channel.

5. I won't flame you
I'll agree with you. That exactly was my thought when I was scanning the thread titles. Perhaps if we bring this point to light, posters would think before using this term. Just a little bit more sensitivity in word choices isn't too much to ask.

6. I hear you
When people say there's no good rock anymore, I know they are a radio listener. Mike Patton is still kicking in several newish wonderful bands, Ween just came out with a new album, they all tour every year or so, as well as countless other examples. Rock is just as alive as it has always been. You just have to dig a little deeper.
