My version of the letter, which unfortunately is going to be directed to Stepford Senators Hutchison and Cornyn (R-TX).

Dear Senator ________:
The qualities we'd like to see in our nation's attorney general are not defined by political party. Whether Republican, Democrat or Independent, we all demand honesty, compassion, decency, and respect for the rule of law from the Nation's highest law enforcement officer.
Unfortunately, President Bush's nominee for attorney general, Alberto Gonzales, appears to lack these basic qualities. I personally question even his qualifications for the position, given his ingenuous and evasive performance before the Senate Judiciary Committee, and his uinwillingness to produce requested material for the committee.
During his Senate confirmation hearings, Gonzales' demonstrated a complete lack of candor regarding his role in the development of the Bush administration's disastrous policies on interrogation and torture. He also gave misleading testimony regarding a court appearance he made on Governor Bush's behalf during a jury call in Texas.
Our great country deserves a great attorney general, and Alberto Gonzales does not fit the bill. I am sure there are many other qualified candidates, of any race, gender or background, who could fill the position with integrity and distiction.
Please vote against him.
Sincerely,
<Richardo>
