The first batch I made....

Little pumpernickel cocktail bread slices - half spread with leftover chicken salad, topped with a Roma tomato slice, and a slice of either Gouda or pepper jack cheese; the other half spread with shredded smoky cheese mixed with chopped green chilies and finely chopped onion.

I'm not sure what I'll do with the next batch. Maybe tiny ham sandwiches popped under the broiler.

I got the idea because we had a refrigerator full of odds and ends to use up: a little chicken salad, several ends of different varieties of cheese, some deli meat, a couple of tomatoes, and some onion.

D went up to the mountains snowmobiling today, and he should be home in about half an hour. This will make a good, simple meal. We'll probably watch DVDs later, so that's when the popcorn will come in.

It's actually an ideal time to start your family IMO. I think it would be much easier to be the mother of a young child at this point in my life, rather than when I was so young. Many of my close friends are just now to a point in their lives where they are beginning their families.
