DU Bob Dylan Group proposal...

I'm going to try one last time, since there's already a Grateful Dead group, DU needs a Bob Dylan Group.

Who's in. All we need are ten people with donor stars and a mission statement.

A place to talk about Bob Dylan, his life, his music and his poetry.
A well as Dylan's impression on music history in the past, and in the present day.

Dedicated to someone who i know lurks here from time to time...

What do you think of the desire album? I know it's more Eastern European/ Semitic sounding, with the brooding violins, but how about Emmie Lou Harris' constant back round vocals...

I love the Eastern European/semtic sound, hell if I wasn't an Irish American, I would identify exclusively with my Eastern European side, I choose to do both however. I just have a harder time identifying with western europeans/protestantism, I as an Eastern European Irish Catholic tend to also identify more with Eastern European and the Eastern Orthodox religion, plus I love the archieature. Sorry for the rant man, I am quite the ranta aint I.

Right now I like Dylan music more than Rolling Stones music. As for the Bootleg Series, the October 64 concert at Philharmonic Hall CD is among the best. It has my favorite assortment of long and revolutionary songs. A HArd Rain's a Gonna Fall, Gates of Eden, It's Alright Ma, Mr. Tambourine Man, and The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll.

I didn't start listening to Dylan until I started college in the early 90s...since then he's all I listen too.

There's a lot of great biography's and analysis's of his career. If this Group does get started, it looks like I'm going to have to dust some of my own off the shelves.

So lets keep this discussion going. What do you think of Dylan during the seventies? I personally love the early stuff, Desire and Blood on the Track were among the first Dylan disks I owned (yes on record) before that i was only aware of the Greatest Hits type stuff they play on the radio...It really opened my mind to a more lyrical style of music.
