Pros and cons of .AVI versus .MPEG files for video
If I'm converting videos to computer files, with the intention of burning to DVD, what are the pluses and minuses of using each format. I simply can't tell based off of how the manual for Pinnacle Studio plus explains it. And I only have so many dvd's and so much file space to experiment on.

Any advice from resident video experts?

1. I would go MPEG.
I have had better experiences with it. It's streamable. It's supported by Windows Media, Real and Quicktime. Windows Media gets funky with .AVI.

I am not a video expert, but I have some experience with it.

2. mpeg is a standard
with avi, you get into trouble with unrecognized codecs, and screwed up sound
