I was in radio for a few years, and became reasonably well-known in my second gig, as afternoon drive DJ and music director for a Central Wisconsin country music radio station.

3. One of my former employers had a New Yorker comic on his door that said |
|
"I wasn't born great, and I haven't achieved greatness, but I'm still hoping to have it thrust upon me".

7. I had nearly 10 years of it.... |

Or maybe "notoriety" is a better word than "fame," and it was in a very small and limited community. Fun while it lasted, but I don't really miss it.....

8. Big fish in a small pond ,eh? |

I had the same thing for four years in the mid-90's. I lived on a small tropical island where some of my relatives are quite high up on the political ladder. I had lived in England most of my life and didn't know anything about that side of my family. Anyway, it was quite strange when I arrived as everyone was really nice to me and knew who I was.
When I moved back to England it felt strange the other way round, i.e. how indifferent people were to me. Made me realise that fame is all about place and context.

11. No, but I had 10 minutes of unwanted attention when... |
|
...the crotch of my jeans tore open while playing softball.
I don't suppose that qualifies...
