The OKC metro has become so sprawling that Norman is basically a part of OKC now, but technically they are separated by 17 miles.

UCO, in Edmond is located on the extreme northern end of the metro. It's a different world up there.

Does that mean nobody old enough to have attended college can be fans of a college team, since they couldn't possibly have attended that university?

The ironic thing is, coming from outside of Oklahoma in the late 80s early 90s as the Sooners were in decline, I knew more people who were OSU fans without having attended (on account of Barry Sanders) than were OU fans, though that trend has definitely shifted.

or cheer for the school where a partner or loved one went to school. But even still, why can't someone cheer for a team just because it is the state university? People cheer for a pro team too, but very few have actually played for them and there is no school to go to. Pro teams have their fan base based mostly on geography. Why is it acceptable there but not at the college level?
