Why Do Some Threads Get So Many Replies?

Some of them totally don't deserve the hundred or more replies they get. And other threads which are fab and a half, get like no replies. What's up with that. I don't understand the politics and sociology of the DU Lounge. :shrug:

Edit: I am also quasi-drunk. I don't understand that either.

i remember one day all my threads got at least 20 replies with some getting over 60. the next day, everyone of my threads sank like a stone. depends on the pulse of the lounge.

if a lot of the older, no nonsense people are on, i feel like the leper. if the younger, more laid back people are on, then i get the responses.

I don't think the particular poster has as much to do with it as the MOOD of the lounge at that moment and who happens to be on DU just then.

I have posted stuff that I giggled myself silly typing up to watch them go KER-plunk! But that's the nature of message boards sometimes.

Other times I've posted things just really off-hand, hardly thinking about it and was shocked at the response they got.

And then there's THREADJACKING like what KLEEB likes to do (really, Kleeb you and Revolutionary just need to get a room!).
