I guess I'm addressing this to everyone. In the brief time that I have been on DU, I have seen so many things. While scanning the archives of DU, I came upon some threads in the Lounge dealing with the issue of depression. I don't know if it's ok to bring this issue up again or not, but I just wanted to thank all of you for helping Ladyhawk. I don't know Ladyhawk personally, but you guys saved a life. I really do believe that. Having gone to school with and lived around depressed people before(and having been depressed myself), I know how hard it is for them to deal with their illnesses.

I really want to thank all of you who were kind to her, and didn't just brush her mental illness off as something less than serious. It's time to recognize that mental illnesses are just as serious as physical illnesses. These people don't choose to be depressed, they really can't help it, and it's so sad. I know firsthand how it feels, and when reading these archives, I really wanted to :cry:. Looking at familiar DU handles that I've remembered from being here a week, and seeing how you all came to Ladyhawk's aid, it was simply amazing, and beautiful. There really aren't any words to describe how I feel about what you did.

You are all great people, and so kind and full of compassion, too. Cheswick, SOTeric, Skinner, proud patriot, there's really too many to list, but those are some of the names I remember. Thank you. You may not know me, but I know you, and it really meant a lot to me what you did for her. I'm eternally grateful to all of you, and I hope to be here a long time.
