The new Firefox web browser is A LOT faster than MSIE and doesn't pose the security threats that internet explorer does... i'm using it right now and even the DU forum seems to be faster...

I have found that not all sites support Firefox, though, so it's necessary to keep IE around for certain things.

17. If you need to open in IE, right click on the link and there's an option

to view in IE. (Can't remember if that was an extension or if it's just there.)

I also wish it didn't crash so often. But a small price to pay as it's easy to recover tabs after the crash.

It seems like the History files only includes URLs for the pages viewed on that particular tab. If a tab has been closed, I often can't get back to it via History.

Basically, it lets you use your mouse for simple tasks. For example, if I want to open a new tab, I just right click and drag the mouse downward. To go back one page, just right click and drag the mouse left. To refresh a page, right click and move the mouse up then down. It's very customizable. One problem...you'll find yourself doing it in other applications that don't support mouse gestures like Excel and stuff. Kinda funny.

Also I am getting stuff together for a mop up of a computer some hot-shot kid loaded. The computer is on dial-up, so I'm down loading stuff from the net to my computer to burn to a CD for the project. I down loaded FireFox and checked it out. Not a whole lot different from Netscape 7.2.

The question for anyone: What freebies are out there for E-mail?

EVERYTHING is easier in Firefox. To get that bar in IE, you have to turn on the "links toolbar" by right-clicking the tool bar and checking "links" Then you can drag bookmarks to the links bar. Like you said, much easier in FF.

Open Firefox.
Type "about:config" in the address bar (no quotation marks).
Find these options, double click each one and change to below values:

network.http.max-connections: 48 (24)

network.http.max-connections-per-server: 24 (8)

network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy: 12 (4)

network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server: 6 (2)

network.http.pipelining: true

network.http.pipelining.maxrequests: 32 (4)

network.http.proxy.pipelining: true

right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0".


The #s in parentheses are the default numbers; It is set for dialup. These new setting accomodate high speed connections

I love it, but sometimes it doesn't work when I was applying to law schools and I had to use explorer. Oh, well, I got accepted to my first choice of law schools, so I guess I can use Firefox only now.
