My first thought in reading the question was how can you compare the two. They worked in two totally different genres and had their glory days in two totally different eras. The only thing that is similiar is that they were icons of their eras.

When I was growing up my dad played nothing but Sinatra. I love it in a nostalgic, I-love-my-dad kind of way, but I just can't take it that seriously. I still know most of the Capitol Years box set off by heart.

I never like Frank. Nothing about him interests me a bit. I don't like his voice, his acting, his "coolness", his anything. I could never understand what he was that appealed to anyone. I'm not saying he sucked, I'm just saying he didn't seem like anything special.
