whoisalhedges just said THE. DUMBEST. THING. EVER.
He says:

"Humans did not evolve to wear shoes. The rich said "Hey, we're rich, we don't have to walk around barefoot anymore!" And then the peasants said "Holy shit, I want some shoes!"

Ok...FIRST OF ALL...shoes are the best things EVER. And to imply that humans did not *evolve* to wear shoes is just a slap in the face to Kenneth Cole, Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo, etc. Like humans EVOLVED to wear hoodies, ffs...:eyes:

And secondly...Dookus is not the only one who frequently talks out his ass... :P

8. I like shoes, shoes are neat,
but I agree that we didn't evolve to wear them any more than we evolved to sit in cubicles for 8 hour stretches. (/palahniuk)

22. Raises an interesting question about evolution
viz. How much of evolution is purely physical and how much is mental?

It is certainly true that humans have not physically evolved to wear shoes, but have we evolved mentally to the extent that we realise that cladding our feet can keep them warm, dry, and protect them from damage?

That said, I'm pissed off with shoes at the moment anyway, new shoes and concomitant blisters. Grrs.
