9. I got a clue from your post
When you said you wished she'd lived to see Bush out of office. My mom was the same - she ADORED FDR.

12. know she's standing face to face with God
she couldn't be in a better place. Know that she's watching over you and know that you can now talk to her whenever you want.

One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along
the beach with the Lord.

Across the dark sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed
two sets of footprints in the sand,
one beloning to him and the other to the Lord.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the
very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it.

"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life there is
only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I needed you most
you would leave me."

The Lord replied "My precious, precious child,
I love you and would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffereing,
when you see only one set of footprints in the sand,
it was then that I carried you."

13. When one of my grandmothers died in 1999, I kept thinking
I should be able to call her, it just didn't seem real. I still miss her, all the time. I have no grandparents left and I had four of the best grandparents of all time.

Hugs John, time WILL ease the pain. Write down your stories about her so you can give them to your kids someday. THat's what I have done. In that way, she'll live forever!

34. Thanks for the lovely post
I am identifying with you, as I have with John. I lost my own beloved Nana in late 1998, at about the same age, and in the same way, but I still think of calling her, as I did, every Sunday at 9pm, or whenever I need to tell her something. *sigh*

I agree, write everything down. This is a wonderful tribute and the way to pass the memories on.O8)

14. I Hope You Find Comfort
May your Nana rest in peace, and I hope you find comfort knowing she is. It's normal and healthy to miss her and feel an empty void, but try to focus on all the Love and good memories, and she will live on in your heart. Maybe light a candle for her, it could make you feel better. Take care!:grouphug:

29. So sorry, John.
I hope your good memories will sustain you and your family.

And you can look forward to the day when you see the end of the Bush "reign". You can toast your Nana and have a little silent celebration on her behalf.

Let's hope that day comes soon.

31. It's exactly one year since my grandmother died....
We raised a glass of wine to her on Friday night.

I got the news that she'd passed on while I was sitting in an internet cafe in Melbourne, Australia, several thousand miles from home and I just sat at the computer and wept.

All my best wishes to you and your family John.

P.

Know she'll still be around all of you. She may find little ways to let you know sometimes. I've had many experiences with this, as I have lost many loved ones. Love never dies.

33. It will be a hole left in your heart for all you life...
When my Grandfather died 9 years ago, I was devastated, could barely go through the funeral service, and I was a pallbearer along with my cousins! But know this, time does heal wounds too deep now, but they do not ever go away, they simply change. You will think back to times of laughter and love instead of sorrow. You will learn to smile at the memories of those lost, instead of breaking down and crying. This much I have learned, we never forget, we move on, and carry those memories within ourselves, never letting them die. All hugs man, you will pull through, that much I can guarantee. I was around your age when Grandpa died, so I know quite a bit about what you are going through.

BTW: "When I was your age?!?!?! When did I get so old! I only turned 27 yesterday for crying out loud, damn! :)

35. And it never will, I'm sorry to say
She left a big hole, John, but think how lucky she is to have had this positive impact on people, especially her family. She has every reason to be very proud of her kids, grandkids and the legacy that she left you. Not a lot of people can say this, but you know how much she gave to all of you. She must have been such a special lady.:toast:
