Am I the only one that finds AVN awards hysterically funny
and at the same time, kind of cool?

Why funny?

I don't know, something about people collecting awards for best double anal and weeping as they thank their mother and God is so damned funny to me.

Why cool?

I think it is cool that their industry had their own awards. I mean why shouldn't they take pride in their work as much as anyone else does? Yes, I know it is the total liberal side of me, but how cool is it that these days there doesn't seem to be the same stigma attached to being a part of the porn industry that there once was? That people that really dig sex, are total exhibitionists or whatever can join their tribe and take part in sharing awards for what they do.

Ok, maybe it's just me--crazy chick that I am. LOL!

3. Exactly! Too damned funny!
:D

A female performer accepting her award for best gang bang:

"I'd like to thank the director and my husband--Thank you babe! I looooove You!"

WTF? That kills me!

2. Where does one catch the AVN awards?
They were playing sound from it on Howard Stern and I was like, wondering who actually ends up with a copy to watch.

10. They showed some moments from it too--that's what I was
watching.

To actually see the awards televised? I'm not sure--If you're interested you may want to check the AVN website. I can't bring it up on my ancient computer, or I would check for you. They may provide a link on the site to watch it, or info on where you could find it. Some cable company has got to offer it on pay per view. It seems like it would be a big draw...

Good luck finding it!

5. "Grandpa what's that trophy for?"
the children asked, pointing to the dusty 18" golden phalus on the mantle.

"Errr... gardening. I had the biggest zucchini in the San Fernando Valley that year" Grandpa replied.

"This one says Grandma was 'Best Fluffer.' What's that?"

"Pillows, kids. Grandma woked as a maid to pay for college. Don't ask so many questions."
...

There were a few times when I was younger I thought about looking into doing porn. My body isn't bad, and was pretty great in my younger pre-baby days. I always came back to the idea that eventually I might not be comfortable with the stigma involved. If I sleep with someone and live to regret it I can move on, but video lasts a long time. It takes a braver person than I to decide they won't let thier inner prude let them feel ashamed of thier past in sex work once they've moved on to other things. Certainly braver than I.

9. You're right--they are brave. I think that is part of
what I admire about them.

I think it is just a great thing that someone can own up to WHATEVER they are into and embrace that, and not be ashamed. I love shows like 'Real Sex' on HBO as I find it so educational and interesting to see all the variety of things so many people are into.

Anyone that can live in THIS shame based, right wing, uber-religious society and STILL go for a career in sex because they dig it--that's healthy in my opinion. Good for them!

Besides the shame factor, for a long time porn was flat out illegal. It's so weird to me to see documentaries, where the players talk about how they never knew in advance where a set was. They had to move around constantly and so quickly for fear of getting busted.

(btw, the grandma and grandpa trophy scenarios had me cracking up!!) LOL!

11. Alas, I didn't have much choice on that one
my doppleganger did porn in the 80s. She was really, really prolific. The freakiest thing is that I have seen some of her work and until there was a close up of the goods, I couldn't tell it wasn't me. Very freaky.

8. Saw it--trying to catch it so I can tape it! It's called
Thinking XXX. I am so fascinated by the whole sex industry. I loved the way the photographer posed them in the befores (clothed) and afters (nude). They came out so beautifully--I'd love to buy that book!

Ok, so you all now know I am fascinated by porn. Yikes-- I guess there are worse things, but what a scary thing to have people know!
