CONCORD, N.H. -- Here's a cautionary tale for anyone who owns a computer that someone else might have access to.
New Hampshire resident Renee Elderd said she never even thought to ask her husband about the music that he downloaded and listened to on their computer. She probably should have.
Not long after her husband moved out, Elderd was sued by the recording industry, accused of copyright infringement.
Even though she didn't download a single tune herself, she was on the hook because the computer, software installed on it and the phone line connected to the Internet all were in her name.
Elderd said she can't afford the $3,000 settlement being offered by the industry to make the lawsuit go away.
