Then, I saw a news report about circus elephants running off with passengers and going crazy and rampaging about. I will never ride a circus elephant again. I'd probably ride one on a safari in India. Tigers will not attack elephants so you can go look at tigers from the top of your elephant!

edit: I read the awful story about the poor elephants in the midwestern zoo who died of the cold. Elephants belong in the outdoors. Captive elephants in India, Thailand, Sri Lanka etc. are well-cared for and do important work. Many elephants helped to rescue people from the tsunmai and to clean up after. They are known to mourn their dead friends and family. :cry: :cry:

Because apparently they hold grudges. But the most frightening video I've ever seen was of an elephant rampage in Hawaii. It turned on its trainer during a show, which was captured on home video, then mauled a few other unfortunates who got in its way. It turned human beings into rag dolls in a matter of two or three kicks. Horrible! :scared:
