I would have thought even the least scientifically literate person might have guessed that, just from observation. Be that as it may, pigeons fall in an order of birds known as Columbiformes...which means...ta da...they are Pigeons!

If you don't think about it too hard, it makes sense that a Pigeon would be a Pigeon and not a Songbird. Even to a humble graduate of the public school system such as myself.

And, yeah, I'll have the courage to take the unpopular side and agree that in most cases feral cats should be depopulated. I do have a sentimental preference for native wildlife rather than non-native invasive feral forms that never existed in nature. No one objects to the removal of Feral Pigeons for hygenic reasons, so why object to the removal of feral cats? Consistency isn't necessarily a bad thing.

A good observer will notice that the remains left behind by feral cat is more typically Mourning Dove size and below. But you have to be very observant. A feral will not bring you the dead prey like a pet cat might. It will hide what it is doing. A surprising number of people have never witnessed cats hunting. It takes the ability to be still and to watch.

I have not seen a cat with Rock Dove (Feral Pigeon) as prey. Not to say it wouldn't happen. But what I've seen is the smaller stuff.
