ATENTION DU Employeers....I Need Your Help..... |
|
If you are a member of DU and you either own a buisness or are directly responsible for hiring employees and you accept RESUMES via e-mail I need your HELP.....
After a job loss 3 years ago and after the UE benifits ran dry our creditworthy picture went SOUTH....WAY SOUTH to the point that we almost lost our Home and Cars.....we decided the quickest remedy was Chptr 13 which we filed last May 04.
I have been seeking employement in Flight OPS at various aviation companies and have submitted many resumes via e-mail and sometimes throught the link on the employers website. QUESTION......By submitting a resume to a company what sort of IMPIED CONSENT do I/WE give them in advance to conduct background check IE credit/employement and criminal checks.....
In Short... off of a RESUME how much can be learned about a candidate without their consent???
Thanks

1. Legally, not much. Your signature is required to do a |
|
credit check. As far as a background check, such as checking former employers, I am not sure about that. If all you have sent is a resume, they should not be able to legally check your credit history.

2. Any reputable company will want your consent for reference |
|
I would never ask for or give a reference without a signed release. There is just too much potential liability. Many companies now have policies which will only confirm dates of employment and if the individual would be eligible for re-hire.
If you feel that a potential employer has checked on you without your permission you don't want to work for that company. You may want to consult with someone knowledgeable with labor law in your state.
