Anyone here heard of "Working Assets Long Distance" phone service?
Just got something from them in the mail today. My Verizon long distance was shut off b/c i can't afford to pay the bill. I just got this offer in the mail from "Working Assets Long Distance" phone service that says it supports Human Rights issues, peace, equality, education and environment.

wtf? 5 cents per minute, $5.95 monthly service fee, etc....

i'm gonna check out the site now, but has anyone heard anything about thsi company? good, bad?

2. Yes. I used to have them
They are for real, they do give and are active on the issues. I have Sprint now because it's free but if I had to choose one to pay it would be them again.

7. Had their L/D svc. for 8 years now, added their cellular svc. last year.
Have had nothing but positive experiences with them.

15. Yes. Free phone, good area coverage, relatively problem-free
I switched mine first and when my daughter's contract expired I changed hers too.

Very happy.

give a percentage of profit to non-profits that customers vote on.

I highly recommend. I think they outsource to Canada. Vancouver BC...you can pretty much understand the CS reps.

I've been with them for years, as have many of my lefty friends. Run by a woman, and I think founded by one (figures)

10. Another positive vote - have used them for many years.
Every member votes on where the money is donated.

Some days it is free to call the White House.

For a small fee, they will send a message on a certain topic to your representatives.

Very progressive. And they gave me cheap long distance to France!

Generally, whenever I've had a complaint about price, they offer me some plan that's better.

11. I personally miss them, and if it weren't for having
DSL on another service, I would still have them, and be eating Ben and Jerry's ice cream every month.

Great company

13. One complaint
The address on the bill's return stub is printed in a counterintuitive place, so every once in a while I'll seal an envelope, realize my mistake, and have to open the envelope. Seriously, it's printed weird. I bet I'm not the only one. GAAAH!

The service on the other hand, has been great the past 7-8 years.

12. I used them for several years
they were very good. I would continue to use them, but I haven't had a phone in my name much for the last few years.

They do however, still get my endorsement! :)

14. That's who I use! Socially responsible, totally blue and green and decent
people. Part of your bill is donated to worthy causes, and at the end of the year, you get to decide which causes you want your money to go to.

They rock!!

I've been using them for years. Love 'em!
