9. Regardless of our religious beliefs
We should hope for the best for the Pope.
He is a human being after all.

I am not into prayer but I do wish the Pope the best!

29. I do take your statement into consideration and have little love for
the Catholic church or the priests who raped little boys/girls.

I think the Catholic church needs an over haul in how they conduct business, like waiting for the Pope to die in office before a new Pope is ordained.

But come on, the poor man has no idea what the hell is going on. He shouldn't be in power. He's old and sick. No need to hate on him.

and the rest of them. spend some time up here in Boston and let me know if you feel differently.

not to even MENTION his/their stance on a woman's rights.

no thanks. i see no redeeming qualities in the Vatican thank you

36. I also don't feel any redeeming qualities about the Vatican
but I also don't feel the need to make fun of or wish any further bad news towards the Pope at this time. He's at the end of his rope, he'll be dead so and wishing any more bad news against him really won't solve anything.

He recovered from being shot in 1981 without a hitch.

I'll never forget when I got to see him in SF in 1987. I'm not even Catholic and I was so moved by it.

DON'T pray for him if you don't want to.

But please spare us the hate. Just put the thread on 'Ignore' like a big boy or girl.

OR - perhaps this is more appropriate in the Religion forum.

32. Not liking the Pope is different than anti-catholicism
He is not a good guy, imo. In order for the religion to survive, it needs some tending and new ideas on how to appeal to people. A good start would be exposing every last priest that has exploited any child and publically ex-communicate them. Then they can work on their attitude towards women - - hence, another reformation.

38. Yeah, that can be tough.
Not many Catholics around here, either. I remember my mother telling me about accepting an invitation from someone to go to church with them, or something like that...trying to save her from her error, I suppose...and she was introduced thusly: "Everyone, this is Melanie...let's all pray for her, because she's a Catholic and she's going to hell." Nice, eh?

40. Its Catholic Vs Fundie Baptist in our governor's race
Tim Kaine is a pro life, anti death penalty against the pro life, very pro death penalty, Jerry Kilgore. Kaine is considered liberal by Virginian standards, Warner even distanced himself from him when they first ran even though Kaine really isn't that liberal overall, he barely won but Warner won by a more comfy margin. Also a lot of the Catholics around here are a little right wing so even more the wholly.

45. Yeah...
you know, that's one thing to respect about the Church, even if you disagree...pro-life AND anti-death-penalty. Which seems to me to be a more consistent position than prro-life AND pro-executions...(personally, I'm pro-choice, especially in cases of rape, incest, and danger to the life of the mother).

28. Don't flame me, but I'm surprised he's still kicking! Seriously, he
has been through a heck of a lot.

Don't agree with most of what he stands for, but I sort of feel the way about him like I do a lot of people of that generation--I don't try to argue with some of my father's friends.

Anyway, I wish him well. I only don't wish Dumbo and his evil cohorts well.
