The Jam
Who here loves the Jam? I just heard "In The City" as background music in an episode of "Queer Eye", and the song made me nostalgic for the late 70s/early 80s, when the Jam were a their peak.

In the city there’s a thousand things I want to say to you
But whenever I approach you, you make me look a fool
I wanna say, I wanna tell you
About the young ideas
But you turn them into fears
In the city there’s a thousand faces all shining bright
And those golden faces are under 25
They wanna say, they gonna tell ya
About the young idea
You better listen now you’ve said your bit-a

And I know what you’re thinking
You still think I am crap
But you’d better listen man
Because the kids know where it’s at

In the city there’s a thousand men in uniforms
And I’ve heard they now have the right to kill a man
We wanna say, we gonna tell ya
About the young idea
And if it don’t work, at least we said we’ve tried

In the city, in the city
In the city there’s a thousand things I want to say to you

1. One of the greatest bands of all time.
My favorite songs of theirs are "I Got By in Time," "A Town Called Malice," "Pity Poor Alfie," and "All Around the World........" although I'm such a fanatic I've got all the albums on vinyl AND the box set. My band sounds a LOT like them (ask whoisalhedges!)

Paul Weller is nothing short of a deity at the Koolzip Kompound.

2. I tear up everytime I hear "That's Entertainment"
Paul Weller was a brilliant songwriter. He was only in his late teens and early 20s when he wrote some of his best songs.

7. It's enough to make you stop believing, when tears come fast and furious.
Koolzip, I haven't actually heard your band. You've just told me you sound like the Jam.

Honestly, I think you're just making this whole "band" thing up.

3. Now you're talkin'!!
I absolutely love the Jam!! What an incredible effin' band!! Paul Weller is the man -- I'll even excuse him for "the Style Council."

Too many great songs to list.

4. I had the pleasure to see them live when I was 15
I was mesmerized-they had so much energy. I never really liked the Style Council either (I tried).

6. Oh man -- you saw them???
I remember seeing them on the tv show "Fridays". That was my first exposure to the Jam and they were absolutely amazing. I cannot even imagine what they must have been like live.

Good band, but strangely I don't have any discs by them.
