I find something really strange about the Lounge
You can post a thread asking for good wishes and prayers for your dog, and that's OK. You can post a thread asking for good wishes and prayers for your football team, and that's OK. You can post a thread asking for good wishes and prayers for your dear old granny's lumbago, and that's OK. You can post a thread asking for good wishes and prayers for a sick, old man who's the spiritual leader for the largest religion on the face of the planet, but that's NOT OK.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems to me that there's something seriously messed up with that sort of 'progressive' thinking, or maybe it's just just that I haven't been here long enough to understand the nuances of that sort of 'progressive thought'.

1. Generally Speaking Religion Is Considered To Be An Enemy Of Progressives
Due to the perversion of Christianity by the Fundamentalists in the US.

Hence, there is a natural suspicion of anything religious here.

3. I, for one, am wishing for the best outcome for Karol Woytila,
but not for his opinions.

4. I think a lot of people have issues with the Catholic church.
I know that I do myself. I just end up having no comment in regard to those threads. I figure that it's not a subject where the debate of religion is necessarily needed. I can fully see both sides and perspectives however.

5. Let me try to explain it to you:
No dogs, or kitties, or football teams, or grandparents caused enormous ammounts of suffering all over the world by refusing to condone the use of birth control (condoms) in the face of AIDS.

There is a certain ammount of anger over that...the covering up of pedophiles in the church...the silence during WWII about Nazi activities.

Does that help you understand things better?
