Looking for a job sucks!
I'm a month into job hunting, and I haven't got one yet. Encouragement needed, please. Thanks. I hope everyone is doing great. The only bright spot right now is the fact that I FINALLY got my computer out of the shop and I'm getting internet access, even if it is primative dial-up, at my mother's. Please send me prayer and good thoughts. I need them.
Thanks,
Duckie

1. What sort of job are you looking for?
Is it something that unusually difficult to find or are you open to whatever is open?

Either way good luck!!!!

5. My degree is in Criminal Justice with an emphasis on juvenile justice...
And I'm open to anything. The way they do things here, I can work at any social science job. Thanks.

2. Prayer and good thought to you.
Yet, it sucks looking for a good job.

I just seriously started day before yesterday.

I HATE mailing out resumes and hearing nothing back.

6. don't mail resumes or answer ads, knock on doors
if you answer ads you've got 50-75-100 competitors

9. True
I would be in a fairly specialized field, though. The adverts come by word of mouth, Chronicle of Higher Edcation, professional associations, etc.

So, I would have to re-locate for the right job, and I am more than willing to do so.

4. Good Luck to you!
I found the internet very helpful when I was looking for a job.. Maybe if you share with us what sort of job you are looking for and where, someone might know of an opening.. :)

My thoughts are with you..

8. Good luck YRD
My husband has been looking for quite a while, had another interview today... fingers crossed. So I hear ya, it's tough. www.monster.com isn't a bad site, and there may be others more tailored to your field, if you do some hunting around. Also, drop the fact that you're job-hunting with people you talk to, 'cause you never know who knows what... Good luck to you, hang in there!

10. Good Luck
Keep a positive attitude; it may be hard but it really does make a difference.

I had a hell of a time finding my first job in science (we we're in a recession then too - thank you Ronnie Reagan!) and when I finally did it wasn't what I really wanted. And the pay sucked. But the next job was better and so on and so on. Now about 20 years later I'm a Director, I love my job and I am adequately compensated.

Give it time, it will happen for you if you just keep trying.

11. I graduated from college last time a Bush was in office.
Job hunting sucked then, too. It took me two years to find a job even remotely associated with my field. I worked an assortment of other crappy jobs until then.
