"Here is why personal accounts are a better deal. Your money will grow, over time, at a greater rate than anything the current system can deliver, and your account will provide money for retirement over and above the check you will receive from Social Security."

1. Sure. And would you also like to buy a bridge in New York?

I have some swamp land in Florida, and some beach front in Nebraska.

Tell that to the people that lost their lives to the crash of '29.

And a great recession in the '70's.

This is gambling.

What happens if I don't gamble so well?

Now what?

4. You lose
and the problem is that your old and broke. If you don't have any family to take care of you.......well, I don't want to think about that.

Anyway Social Security isn't broke or in a "crisis. Click on the link and find out the facts for yourself.

3. and the check fairy will bring you the check each day
because there will be soooooo much money you'll have to get a check each day. otherwise the check fairy won't have anything left to do. except fly maybe. and open flower petals. and grant birthday wishes.

6. Here's what you ask the privatizers...
"What mutual fund should I invest in? Because I want an investment that will guarantee me set payments when I retire, regardless of market fluctuation. I want an investment that will pay me disability income should I be unable to work. And I want an investment that will pay survivors' benefits to my widow and children if I should die. What mutual fund can offer me that? I'll invest in it tomorrow."

After much hemming and hawing, they're probably say something to the effect that "you really don't understand how markets work."

To which you reply: "I understand perfectly well how markets work. There's risk and there's reward -- in order to get the higher rewards you're talking about, I have to accept more risks to my retirement. If I want risks, I'll invest my own money in the market."
