Woke up, fell outta bed, realized my country was dead...
...at least the US I grew up in is dead.

Do you ever wake up and think to yourself that there is absolutely no hope for us anymore - that we've passed the point of no return? The BFEE is going to dismantle every progressive program and ideal we've fought for and maintained in the last 100 years. And, his stewardship of our economy has been an unmitigated failure, with record deficits that threaten our very stability. The shit will soon hit the fan in a way that will affect every single American.

We have no mainstream conduit with which to inform our fellow Americans of the grave danger we're all in, nor do we have leaders who will fight for us.

Sorry for being a bummer. Help me out here - what do we have to look forward to?

1. If you believe in coincidence,
someone else posted that Nixon was the only other president to give his second term SOTU speech on Groundhog Day.

I know. I'm grasping at straws.

4. Thank you sweetheart, for pointing out that today is like any other...
:hi:

Guess the best thing is to take it day by day, I guess, and not sweat the future, which is always undetermined anyway.:hi:

5. The rest of the song...
"...found my way upstairs and had a smoke
and somebody spoke and i went into a dream

I heard the news today oh boy
four thousand holes in blackburn Lancashire
and though the holes were rather small
they had to count them all
now they know how many holes it takes
to fill the Albert Hall
i'd love to turn you onn."

http://www.seeklyrics.com/lyrics/Beatles/A-Day-In-Life.html

I was not pointing out that it is like any other, rather
that, as the beatle's lyric you started.. .continues...
it suggests the absurdity of what they consider important,
(counting holes.. ... i think actuall it was potholes in
the inspiration to the song)... and the end... "i'd love to
turn you on."... that this illusion is divine and profound
even in the most simple daily actions. :-)

7. We have NATO under fire from the US military in about 10 years or so, to
look forward to... when nations with balls gather together to overthrow the corrupt government of the USA.

Seriously, it won't be until the US military is under fire from NATO that this nation begins to heal from the horrors yet to come.

8. Leonard Cohen said it best
Everybody knows that the dice are loaded
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed
Everybody knows that the war is over
Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
That's how it goes
Everybody knows
Everybody knows that the boat is leaking
Everybody knows that the captain lied
Everybody got this broken feeling
Like their father or their dog just died

Everybody talking to their pockets
Everybody wants a box of chocolates
And a long stem rose
Everybody knows

Everybody knows that you love me baby
Everybody knows that you really do
Everybody knows that you've been faithful
Ah give or take a night or two
Everybody knows you've been discreet
But there were so many people you just had to meet
Without your clothes
And everybody knows

Everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows

Everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows

And everybody knows that it's now or never
Everybody knows that it's me or you
And everybody knows that you live forever
Ah when you've done a line or two
Everybody knows the deal is rotten
Old Black Joe's still pickin' cotton
For your ribbons and bows
And everybody knows

And everybody knows that the Plague is coming
Everybody knows that it's moving fast
Everybody knows that the naked man and woman
Are just a shining artifact of the past
Everybody knows the scene is dead
But there's gonna be a meter on your bed
That will disclose
What everybody knows

And everybody knows that you're in trouble
Everybody knows what you've been through
From the bloody cross on top of Calvary
To the beach of Malibu
Everybody knows it's coming apart
Take one last look at this Sacred Heart
Before it blows
And everybody knows

Everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows

Oh everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows

Everybody knows
