Poll question: Full-time workers: How long are you away from home on an average work day?
This poll doesn't include pre- or after-work activities like working out outside the home, or church, or kid stuff, or sports, or stopping for dinner.

I'm curious about commute time. I know some folks work longer than 8-hour days (like on a 9-days-in-2-weeks schedule or a 4-day work week) and that's okay. Just include the time you leave your house to the time you return to your house on an average work day, minus any other activities.

Me & Mrs. V? We're away from home for approximately 13 hours on an average work day.

2. Same here.
Varies by 10-15 minutes depending on traffic, kids, etc., but hovers right around 10.

3. I usually work 12 hours shifts.
Edited on Thu Feb-03-05 09:18 AM by SarahBelle
So, right now I usually work two 12 hour night shifts in a row. My commute itself is only a 1/2 hour, but on the nights I work, I'm pretty shot and out of commission the entire day as well (sleep). Soon, I'll be on call for another shift during the week (very well-paid when I get called in). Really, I'm pretty lucky. I have exactly what I wanted and needed at this time in my life. I like what I'm doing as well.

4. So much that I really question why I have a "home...."
In fact, I've taken most of my nicer plants, framed "art," and lamp to the office, since that seems to be the only way I'd get to enjoy them.

6. 10.5 hours with fucking morons who try to supervise me
Sometimes 12 hours with a group representing my dysfunctional family and whom I cannot bond with but am infected by their unbelievable stupidity. Their inane decisions permeate every pore of my existance making me want to DIE.
