We should turn Wyoming into the focus of liberal immigration.
Think about it.

Wyoming is about the smallest state population wise. All it would take would be a few thousand liberals to immigrate to strategic locations and the state would be ours. We could break the GOP stranglehold on a fiercely conservative state, and turn it into a liberal Mecca. Not only that but we would add two more senators and a few congressmen to our ranks. All it would take are a few thousand willing participants.

With Wyoming broken so goes the rest of the west.

11. It's called the Free State Project
They want to turn NH into their own little Libertarian paradise.

http://www.freestateproject.org/

My understanding is that they have targeted Grafton County specifically, but that many of the locals are having none of it as the FS'ers try to put their stamp on everything from zoning to the school budget. If anyone has more information about that in particular, please share.

13. That would be interesting if they would pull it off.
Just for the reason of showing the world that true libertarianism would mean descending into chaos.

I'm all for social libertarianism, but I just don't think economic libertarianism would ever work.

3. But. But...I'm a tree hugger! There aren't many trees in Wyoming!
And the last time I drove into Wyoming I was greeted by a giant billboard stating that I was entering cattle country and vegetarians were not welcomed!

12. There are trees in the mountains.
I went to Yellowstone/Grand Teton when I was in high school. There were lots of trees around there, but the eastern part of the state is bleak in spots.

Grand Teton was absolutely beautiful. The people who lived and worked there were really nice people. In the winter, Jackson Hole is just down the road.

4. I think there's a reason its so small...
Who could live there?
I know a guy who works here from SD - he said everyone tries to get out of there b/c there's nothing to do there.

Good luck with this - but I won't be moving there. :)

8. You can if you open up the sushi deli that does it
There isn't a demand for it, so there isn't a supply.

For environmentalist types, Wyoming is a great place to start. For those who love the outdoors, there's Yellowstone Park, awesome skiing, and fishing.

Montana has a liberal infusion, it wouldn't take much to turn both Montana and Wyoming to Democratic states. Hell, a good dose of Dean populism will do the trick without a progressive immigration. ;)

17. OK, so long as one of us libruls opens a snow-shoveling
business. I don't mind snow, but I hate digging myself out! I moved south to avoid the heavy snows in Virginia, and I'd be more than willing to go to Wyo. if someone could keep the roads clear and my driveway clear. That, and sushi of course. And good pizza.

My best friend lives in Bozeman, MT and I know several people in Jackson Hole. I'm game. My hubby will be harder to convince, but if the snow-shoveling is taken care of, he'll be much easier to sway.
