AAHH! Religious nuts in my class!

I am taking several online classes this semester. We have to post comments to discussion board questions for a few of them. In Human Growth and Development, the discussion question was "if you could, would you want to find out if you are genetically predisposed to a disease(s).
Last night, when I went to respond (my answer is no!), I noticed there was a lot of talk on the discussion board about how "it's god's way" and then some people even talking about how it would be good for people to know what they will die from so they WILL HAVE TIME TO REPENT THROUGH GOD'S ONLY SON.
I have posted several times to some of these messages, and no one gets what I'm saying: you cannot remain objective when talking about science and god.
Human Growth and Development is supposed to be a science, right? Not creationism or anything else religious, right?

These people are gonna drive me nuts before the end of the semester!

Post things like: "yes, plus once they repent, then they know they're chosen to become glorious martyrs in the fiery destruction of abortion clinics."

2. Take a deep breath - and ignore them.

I know, I'm surrounded by them as neighbors in California. I just say, "Got to go." Oh, and I would let the professor know that you intend to ignore bigotry, and refuse to respond to it.

For those that say NO: "If God did not want us to explore these types of issues, why would He give us the tools, the technology, and the inherent intelligence (never say knowledge) to do so?"

For those that say YES: "If you take this sort of 'genetic shortcut', doesn't that in some way cheapen your effort to repent? Would God really approve of someone who only stopped sinning because they knew they were going to die soon?"

Religion can be a fine thing in the church or in the temple, but it really needs to be kept out of the classroom and the laboratory.

It is such a sweet thing when you can turn their own beliefs against them.

Also: my professor is not posting to these discussions at all - in fact I'm not sure she knows about it yet, but I'm certain she wouldn't condone it.

8. Have A Little fun With 'em

Tell them you agree one hundred percent and then start adding increasingly strange viewpoints and practices all the while agreeing TOTALLY with whatever they say.

For example, you should write:
"I agree. If people knew they were going to die they could repent and ask for the blessing of God's only son. Just last night I selected an unblemished goat from a farmer down the road and I hung him over a makeshift backyard alter by his back hooves. After slicing the beasts throat and allowing the blood offering to our Lord Jesus Christ to spray on the alter, I stood beneath the animal and allowed the blood offering to cover me in order to cleanse my body of the worldly sins of our secular society. Thank God George W Bush is only a few years away from bringing the Lord's awesome and swift retribution down upon the unbelieving heathens in America. 10. I agree that it's a science, but this particular question...

...is more of a philisophical one, so in this case I would expect people to draw from their chosen philosophy.
