My retired father went job-hunting today
He made the decision last night after watching the SOTU.

I hate the republicans and everything they stand for. Anyone got a problem with that?

1. Don't Hate - Appreciate
how badly they are going to fuck up so they can begin getting blown out in 2006.

4. By my count they've been fucking up for 4 years
And have only solidified huge majorities in every branch of government.

It's going to get MUCH worse before it gets better.

3. Why did he do that?

6. His investments have been tanking for a couple of years
He worked 6 days a week from when I was 5 until I was 20.

It breaks my heart to see him go back. It looks like he'll work until he dies.

He won't be alone and that breaks my heart even more.

7. Is he younger than 55
I stopped working to take care of my disabled son thinking, oh, I can collect SS when I turn 62--Wrong? I wonder how many people who gave up on the job market thinking their SS would be just fine, we'll just make do with one salary for a bit, will have to start looking for work?

8. Return to work
Goddess40's mom here. I retired 4 years ago from the nursing profession. I would return to work but am physically unable to do that. If I could find a nice desk job I could maybe handle it but as for most nursing jobs I could no longer do it. I too am very worried about the death of SS if Bush gets his way. If I were not living with Goddess and her family I would really be financially in trouble. I have a 77 year old friend who is also looking for work. Yet * can give money to the wealthy but has no money for the rest of the citizens. What a pig.

9. And I'm sure your dad is not alone!
I'm sure many others went out looking for jobs today. It's really sad, people of retirement age are supposed to enjoy this time of their life, yet they can't because we are stuck w/ this f*ck in the white house.
