Poll question: Which song has more archaically sexist lyrics?

Which song has more archaically sexist lyrics?

"Wonder Woman"

Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman.
All the world is waiting for you,
and the power you possess.

In your satin tights,
Fighting for your rights

And the old Red, White and Blue.

OR...

She's a Lady

Tom Jones

Well she's all you'd ever want
She's the kind they'd like to flaunt and take to dinner
Well she always knows her place
She's got style, she's got grace, she's a winner.

She's a Lady. Whoa whoa whoa, she's a Lady
Talkin' about that little Lady, and the Lady is mine.

Well she's never in the way
Something always nice to say, Oh what a blessing.
I can leave her on her own
Knowing she's okay alone, and there's no messing.

She's a Lady. Whoa whoa whoa, she's a Lady
Talkin' about that little Lady, and the Lady is mine.

Well she never asks for very much and I don't refuse her
Always treat her with respect, I never would abuse her.
What she's got is hard to find, and I don't want to lose her.
Help me build a mountain from my little pile of clay. Hey, hey, hey

BTW, I love both of these silly but sexist songs!

1. 'she always knows her place?"
what, she's a puppy?
the tom jones song is the worst, by far.
he's not a bad singer but 'she's a lady' belongs in the musical trash heap of history with 'stand by your man'

7. Still hard to beat "Under My Thumb" by the 'Stones...
...for basic 3 chord misogyny.

8. Another one

By The Four Tops. Why, she's the perfect, subservient, low maintenance mail order bride from heaven!

(Ain't no woman like the one I've got.)
(Ain't no woman like the one I've got.)
(Ain't no woman like the one I've got.)

Every day the sun comes up around her.
She can make the birds sing harmony.
Every drop of rain is glad it found her.
Heaven must have made her just for me.
When she smiles so warm and tender,
A sight for sore eyes to see.

Oooh, (ain't no woman like the one I've got.)
Oh, no, they don't come better.
(To make her happy doesn't take a lot.)
She don't ask for things, no diamond rings.
(So together, like a hand in glove.)
Like pages in a letter.
(Ain't no woman like the one I love.)

She can fill me up when it's down I'm goin' (I'm goin').
Put a little music in my day.
Wouldn't be surprised if my love keeps growin' (it keeps growin').
Bigger every minute that she stays away.
I would kiss the ground she walks on,
'Cause it's my word, my word she'll obey, now.
Woo-ooh. (Ain't no woman like the one I've got.)
Well, I kiss the ground she walks on.
(To make her happy doesn't take a lot.)
She's a real good friend right to the end.
(So together like a hand in glove.)
A lonely man when she's gone.
(People, ain't no woman like the one I love.)

Oooh. What a good, good thing I've got.
She means to me a lot.

(Ain't no woman like the I've got.)
No, no, they don't come better.
(To make her happy doesn't take a lot.)
She don't ask for things, no diamond rings.
(So together, like a hand in glove.)
Like pages in a letter.
(Ain't no woman like the one I love, people.)

(Ain't no woman like the one I've got.)
Well, I kiss the ground she walks on.
(To make her happy doesn't take a lot.)
I'm a lonely man when my baby's gone.

10. "She don't ask for things, no diamond rings".
I heard that song for the first time a few months ago, was all "awww" until that line.

Like, what the fuck is that, she don't "ask for things"?

And certainly not a diamond ring, she never EVER alludes you should marry her...or buy her a gift she'd enjoy....

Eww.

9. Wonder Woman is one hot song though.
That's the only reason I can't wait till they make a movie--hearing that song again.

So I'd go with Tom Jones, who's hella sexy for reasons I don't even understand.

A lady always has something nice to say--HAHAHAHA!

12. Two hideously sexist songs come to mind: one great; the other just sexist!
Wishing and hoping and
thinking and praying,
planning and dreaming
each night of his charms
that won't get you into his arms,
so if you're looking to find love
you can share, all you gotta do,
is hold him and kiss him, and love him
and show him that you care

Show him that you care just for him,
do the things that he likes to do,
wear your hair just for him,
cause you won't get him, thinking and a praying
wishing and a hoping

Just wishing and hoping
and thinking and praying
and planning and dreaming
his kisses will start...
that won't get you into his heart...
so if your thinking how great true love is
all you gotta do is...

Hold him and kiss him and squeeze him and love him
just do it and
after you do, you will be his

Show him that you care just for him,
do the things that he likes to do,
wear your hair just for him,
cause you won't get him
thinking and a praying
wishing and a hoping

Just wishing and hoping and thinking and praying
planning and dreaming
his kisses will start...
that won't get you into his heart
so if your thinking how great true love is
all you gotta do.....

Is hold him and kiss him
and squeeze him and love him
just do it and after you do
you will be his....
you will be his.....
you..will..be..his........

Then there's the "just the sexist one":

You’ve got to change your evil ways... baby
Before I stop loving you.
You’ve go to change... baby
And every word that I say, it’s true.
You’ve got me running and hiding
All over town.
You’ve got me sneaking and peeping
And running you down
This can’t go on...
Lord knows you got to change... baby.

When I come home... baby
My house is dark and my pots are cold
You’re hanging 'round... baby
With jean and joan and-a who knows who
I’m getting tired of waiting and fooling around
I’ll find somebody, who won’t make me feel like a clown
This can’t go on...
Lord knows you got to change

Organ solo:

(repeat 2nd verse)

Yeah ... yeah ... yeah ...

UGH!
