Am I weird? I actually love being alone.
I'm alone alot and some of my friends ask me if I'm lonely or bored.. The answer is NO!

Do I need a shrink? Am I antisocial?

2. No, you're fine...
you're just an introvert. Nothing wrong with that. (The extroverts have us outnumbered, though, and they think everyone should be as outgoing as they are...)

glad to get home(or have them leave).

I just love nesting and have even enjoyed the couple of trips I took alone. I do what I want, when I want.

26. I am always uncomfortable around people I do not know
I hate going places where I don't know anyone. At parties, unless I know someone (and sometimes even if I do) I usually just find an out-of the way place and just watch. I never initiate conversation with people I don't know (well except oninternet message boards!). Being around people is exhausting for me.

4. Join the Loners Club
Nothing wrong with liking to be alone from time to time (within reason). I get a lot more done when I am by myself.

5. Loners unite!!
(but from our own spaces - no need to actually get together).

I love being alone as well. I like going out to eat alone, going for walks alone, shopping alone, go to movies alone...and I've never felt lonely because of it.

Lots of people have a hard time understanding how some people can enjoy and find fulfilment being alone, and they worry about us, and want us to have "more friends" and "get out more" and blah blah blah.

Well, some poeple are just happy being alone. Some people (like my sister) needs to have people around. She's a real socialite.

And she's having an absolutely awful time accepting her daughter's introversion and need for alone-time and that she has few friends (but the friends she has are good, solid friends - same situation i'm in, few friends, but they're all damn good ones). My sister has a HUGE group of friends, but not, I would say, as close to them as my friends and I are.

It's fun to watch her struggle with her daughter (who's a junior in college). :-) I keep telling her, "Don't worry! She's not insane. She's like me. She likes to be alone. She's a thinker." And then sister says stuff like, "Yeah - but how's she gonna meet a guy?" And I say "Who cares? Maybe she doesn't want to? I really don't think she's worried about finding a mate yet, and that's okay!"

24. Boy,you just told my story!
I was alone a lot as a child and then married and had a family so there was a period of about 25 years where I never had one moment to myself----ever.

I love my life now. Solo and content.

I enjoy being alone, and have for most of my life. That's why I like my job--except for the first hour, I'm the only one in the office!

9. No, you are not alone.
I have a few friends and enjoy doing things with them but am equally happy being home with my cat.

I also don't mind eating out alone. I know some women mind but I don't. The restaurant doesn't care as long as they get paid and I could really give a rat's fart about what the other patrons think of my eating alone. Fark 'em. I'll start to care when they want to pay my bill.

I go to movies alone which is good because I see what I want.

10. Nothing wrong in being alone
I love it, love my privacy and really enjoy the days when the phone isnt ringing off the hook. And I really dislike it when people think I should get out and socialize more, if I wanted to I would. I could stay home and not leave and be perfectly happy. There are lots of us 'loners' out there :) and nothing wrong with us :)

14. Some people like it. It's a matter of taste.
And just think. You don't have to worry about someone else's dirty underwear being all over your bedroom floor. More power to you! Good luck!

Yes, even family. A few days of solitude do wonders for one's sanity.

I can't even conceive of those concepts. And I can't stand not being alone for any extended period of time.

Enjoy what's right for you, and don't worry about it. :)

29. You're not weird. Many times I wish I could be alone.
Today I said, "I quit this family." Today was one of those days when my kids were driving me absolutely crazy. The oldest (almost 12)was home with a sore throat. Not sick enough to be in bed though. The youngest (2 1/2) goes in the refrigerator now and helps himself to whatever he pleases. The middle one (8) spills a huge cup of root beer all over the basement door and kitchen floor. Then about 1/2 hour after I cleaned up that mess, the 12 year old was bouncing a Little Tikes basketball and of course it bounces right on the kitchen table and knocks over my Diet Coke. "Calgon, Take Me Away."

Been there,done that.

I think that's why I enjoy my solitude so much.

Enjoy them, though, they will be gone before you know it.

Being a grandparent is the best------they love ya and then they go home.

I like having my son around, and I'll probably have emotional problems when he moves out, but I'm perfectly cool with being alone.

I have to put on this whole other character to do client gigs, and when I get done, or even if I just have lots of interactions at my office, I'm all wound up and then I hit the wall.

Unless I'm in a particular mood, I have to be persuaded to go out for lunch or drinks or whatever, and then everybody always talks about the fact that I'm there. Just today, I acknowledged that I'm aloof (because we were talking about someone else who's aloof) and got enthusiastic nodding in response.
