Fell free to ignore my über nerdiness if it offends you...

Was using awk, on data fed from a web form. I was mistakenly using printf instead of print on a string, and since sometimes special characters are turned into something resembling printf format strings, sometimes the script borked because it expected nonexistent "arguments" to such format strings. Data was getting lost. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth.
