Medicine Question
I was given vicodin cough syrup for my bronchitis yesterday. Would it be a bad idea to take my muscle relaxers for my back? I didn't think to ask the doctor, I've been sick as hell for days thanks to my son sharing germs.

Note to mods: I'm not really seeking medical advice, per se, just asking if anyone else has been in this situation.

1. this can be a good combination, but be careful
chronic pain can involve muscles constantly tensing up against pain, and a combination of painkiller and muscle relaxant can be very effective in allowing the muscles to relax and heal properly, in the absense of pain. i used this combination (as directed) after a nasty car accident.

however, narcotics (e.g., vicodin) can make you drowsy, and so can muscle relaxants. so, taken together, they can really knock you out. definately no driving or heavy machinery.

that being said, i'm no doc, and yours is only a phone call away.

2. I'm not planning on driving for another 7 hours
Bed is the only thing on my agenda, after George Carlin is over. I just want to make sure I'll wake up in the morning.

The pain in my back is basically constant...I'm sure a surgeon would love to get his knife on me, but I won't let them. I've got curves where I shouldn't, degenerating disks, and all sorts of problems, at the ripe old age of 32!
