What's the most beautiful sound you've heard?
For me, it's the sound of Bjork growling. Sends shivers down my spine.

34. If it's any consolation
my first thought was of my babies' coos.

Then I thought of the sound someone makes when they start breathing again.

Then I thought about a babbling brook.

Peaceful.

But they were pretty funny up above :D those sickos

37. "Oh yeah? Well then. I'm gonna fuck YOU up..........
On Monday!!!!!

Unless it's a Holiday, then you'll have to wait until Tuesday."

(I know it's not really that funny in this context, but I once heard a drunk guy threaten another drunk guy in a bar one Friday night using the same line of thinking. Actually, 'that' may have been the most beautiful sound I've ever heard, come to think of it.)

2. in the middle of the night . . .
the purring of a feral kitten curled up next to me, who somehow finds it safe to cuddle in the dark.

At least, that's the most beautiful sound for today.

15. I knew a lady who was extremely hard of hearing
when she was about 45 years old she was fitted with her first hearing aide. She talked for years about waking up and hearing the birds singing. Now I always will take a moment to listen to the birds. My other favorite sound is Freddy Mercury.

We don't get to hear it often where I live, which is great for computer equipment. OTOH when we do get a thunderstorm a lot of equipment that is not properly protected against lightning gets whacked.

38. my daughter's first cry, of course
followed by the sound of her voice after I found out she had just had an auto accident. Good thing I talked to her too because if I had seen the car first, I would have been a basket case!!

My husband's voice on the phone when he is out of town.

on a more mundane level: anything by Mozart

42. My Boxer breathing
He'd choked on a piece of pizza crust that my son had given him. He came into my room and I could see he was in severe distress - his mouth was open but he couldn't catch a breath.

I did a couple of doggie Heimlichs but they didn't help so I tried to reach into his throat to dislodge the pizza crust. My three kids were freaking out and the dog was shaking his head so I couldn't get anywhere.

I picked him up and ran outside where I continued to work on him. I could feel him weakening in my arms, the life was just flowing out of him. I was yelling, "Jake! Jake! Don't you dare die on me!" while I tried everything I could think of.

Finally, as he sank to the ground, he lost the ability to fight against me and I reached far down his throat and heard the most beautiful sound EVER - a gasp.

It took him nearly fifteen minutes to get back to his feet after that initial breath but he was fine and suffered no ill effects. He lived for another 7 or 8 years.

I'll never forget that - I don't think I could have felt worse if it was one of my children dying in my arms...
