someone replies to a post you made, and you really want to answer that reply, but the thread was locked?
You can't call the poster out, but you really want to continue that conversation.
It's frustrating.

...and forget about it.
That's what I would do.

Or do you just want to continue the conversation in public?

It's something a lot of people would have opinions on. It might turn into a flame war, but
But you've given me an idea.

the poster in question can't receive PMs yet.
Oh, well. Time to drop it anyway. I doubt the mind is receptive.

My arguments were honed years ago. I need to develop some new ones, but I can't do it when threads keep getting locked due to flaming or whatever!

9. Maybe try to post on the subject matter... |
|
...in a way that doesn't violate the rules. And then the person can opt back into the conversation if they want to.
Just be careful not to post flame-bait. Try to "re-frame" it. (I know everyone's sick of that language.)
Just an idea.

I'd have to do it in the GLBT thread, though. It would go really slowly but would keep the flames down.
But since I can't PM the poster, there's no legal way to invite him/her to the thread.

12. Start a new thread without "calling them out". |
|
Then PM them politely to please reply.
