Serious props to Women with large Mammary Glands!
As I sat this morning watching my wife disrobe, I was struck at the incredible responsibility it must be for the care and transportation of said mammaries. So, I am hereby raising my glass to my wife and other women who carry such a heavy burden.

and remember a time my husband came up behind me and offered to use his hands as my bra at all times. I thanked him for the offer, but explained that might not be too practical.

LOL!

23. Kristin sang it best!
A staple song whenever there was a feminist concert in the '70s...

Mammary Glands

chorus:
Mammary glands - wo wo! Mother nature's dairy delight
You can't make cream or butter cause it's just a human udder
And a natural mammalian sight.

Do you wanna pay to take a peek
At what drives men insane?
Well they're in anthro books galore and I'm
Just sure that you'll adore 'em,
Even cave women have the same two simple

chorus

The men decided that a certain shape
Stands out more than the rest
Well they made such a major issue
Women stuff their bras with tissue,
Thrust shoulders back to look their best, show off their

chorus

If you're more than 36, you are desirable
So don't be shy, they'll pay
For once you finally sold out, you may get a center foldout
They dig your dugs, you're on the way, with famous

chorus

It's a multimillion dollar enterprise
But no one know what it's about
If we'd think before we'd buy it
We'd bust the myth, we would defy it
And we might stand up and shout, "They're only"

chorus

24. I used to be very self-conscious.
Since I was 14 years old, my question has not been, "Does this outfit make my butt look big?", but "Does this outfit make my boobs look too big?" After enough years of breastfeeding babies, I became much more comfortable with my body that I may not have otherwise been. One thing that hit me was my ex telling me, "Sarah, women pay money to have breasts like yours. Don't worry about how people perceive you. You're a beautiful, intelligent woman." Now, instead of hiding them under sweatshirts all the time, I often like to wear things that show off the hourglass figure I'm blessed to have. Anyone who talks to me for more than a few minutes realizes there's plenty of substance behind the exterior as well.

35. Being a strait woman, I can't quite.
I've gotten it explained to me before from men who see to find it physically attractive. A more wordy man I've known came up with all kinds of theories from societal conditioning (especially too much Benny Hill apparently in his youth) or a possible evolutionary preference because it's a way to obviously notice someone is both female and mature. I think women have plenty of things we find attractive as well. I also think that somehow men end up being looked down upon as they are somehow Neanderthals if they do openly say they find it attractive. Not necessarily. I think if anyone bases their entire attraction upon someone for something like this (or anything really), they're a fetishist and it's dehumanizing (and are Neanderthals), but if it just happens to be a part of the entire being of a person they find attractive, then it's really no different than saying, "I love her beautiful green eyes" or whatever it is.

Besides, not every man is fascinated.

38. I know that feeling.
I've kind of come to terms with not being looked in the eye many times unfortunately. However, usually the creeps are easily to spot and easy to get rid of as well. However, you don't need to feel self-conscious because of jerks. More easily said than done at times though. Worse though is other women who marginalize me because of it. That actually is hurtful. :(

39. Societal conditioning is more likely
I don't think it's evolutionary preference, or there probably wouldn't be 1.3 billion+ Chinese in the world, as well as hundreds of millions more throughout the rest of East Asia...

In the West, we're taught from a young age that attractive women are ones with big breasts - from the pinup girls of World War 2 to Marylin Monroe in the 50s to Sophia Loren in the 60s to Lynda Carter and Dolly Parton in the 70s...well, you get the picture.

47. Big breasts, flat tummies and tiny waists, you mean ...
Physically next to impossible for women to meet the standards set by the 'fashion industry'.

Did you know that if Barbie was a real woman, with those measurements, she would not be able to stand or walk upright ?

Seriously.

46. I disagree - see my post above
How does that explain 1.3 billion Chinese then? Plastic surgery is pretty popular in China. However, women there have work done to lighten their skin and/or make their eyes look bigger. If you look at Chinese literature from thousands of years back, beautiful women are described as ones with fair skin and big eyes.

55. It's possible, but I think it's more a Western thing
But, I don't know what is desirable in a woman from India - a billion Indians and 1.3 billion Chinese is nearly half the world. Not to mention Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Bangladesh, etc.

Certainly in Europe, Russa, and North & South America it is that way.

I don't know what is considered desirable in Africa or the Middle East, though.

51. Yeah and it's actually harder to breastfeed with larger breasts.
Edited on Fri Feb-04-05 02:22 PM by SarahBelle
Based on my own experiences and in working with other moms, it can be much more difficult for the babies to latch on properly resulting in a lot of effort and some very sore nipples. It hurts. :(

Smaller breasted women seem to actually have a much easier time of it and the actual mammary glands are really pretty universal. Naturally large breasts have more to do with how a women's body distributes fat.

Nothing beyond that though and little selection. Fredericks has more and I think goes to an F cup even. What I hate is that if I want a matching bra and panties, I have to order them and pay too much (I'm a cheapskate). The matching panties for my bra size in retail stores are almost always plus size and I only need a medium. :(

As a natural 44DD, I suppose I should say thank you! There have been times when I've actually envied small-breasted women; like when men have come up to me asking what my bra size is, or have simply just stared at my chest.

I especially envied them when I was pregant, as they got extremely tender and painful to the touch. I actually had to hold hot washcloths on them a lot during my last trimester. And trying to find a bra in my size is sometimes like trying to find the Holy Grail! Women desperate for breast implants have NO idea what they're in for, lol!
