WOW!
It was fantastic! Paul Newman played the Stage Manager and he was awsome. If he can get an emmy for this, he should.
I've never seen "Our Town" before, never really cared to either. But I caught Terry Gross on Fresh Air talking to Paul Newman and she mentioned this, so I decided to check it out and I was moved on many levels.
If you can catch it on a repeat, its what tv can do right once in awhile.

2. Frank Drummer...
Out of a cell into this darkened space
The end at 25. My tongue could not speak
what stirred within me and the village thought me a fool.
Yet, at the start, there was a clear vision,
a high and urgent purpose in my soul
which drove me on, trying to memorize
the Encyclopedia Brittanica.

3. That's "Spoon River Anthology"
Another great piece of classic American theatre.

"Our Town" I like better. It can still make me cry.

Oh, the passage of time and the fragility of life!

Long live Thornton Wilder!

(and a shout out to Edgar Lee Masters, too!)
