What a fabulous sports day Sunday was!!
Edited on Mon Oct-06-03 08:03 AM by Plaid Adder
1) Bears finally win a game!
2) Cubs win the playoffs!!
3) Donovan McNabb leads the Eagles to victory!!!

From now on, I root for two teams: the Cubs, and whoever's quarterback just got race-baited by Rush Limbaugh.

Put that in your pinoidal cyst and smoke it,

1. Did anyone watch the ESPN pre-game show?
Was the issue addressed?

2. No, but there was a lot of grandstanding on Fox
We had the pregame show on for a while for some reason and all of their football commentators were falling over each other to deliver scripted denunciations of Rush's behavior. Found it weird to be listening to all of that coming out of a Fox station, but I suppose they felt a need to distance themselves.

That is one HYPER pregame show, by the way--all four of them yammering at once, and they have a weather woman who dresses like a biker chick. Are all football pregame shows like that?

Yeesh,

The Plaid Adder

3. Yes they addressed it.
Berman apologized for all of them and expressed sorrow and anger for what transpired. He said Limbaugh had promised to leave his social/political commentary out of discussions but did not.

Tom Jackson was particularly angry. You could tell how difficult it was for him and he expressed that it was a management decision to hire Limbaugh in the fist place, not theirs. The hardest part was when he discussed a conversation with a young black child who asked if it was okay for blacks to play quarterback anymore.

All in all they handled it a lot better than the suits/mgt of ESPN did.

4. "He said Limbaugh had promised to leave his commentary out..."
And the ESPN suits believed him? Man, I got a bunch of WMDs in Baghdad I'd like to sell those guys.

Why did they want Rush on the program if they thought he was going to keep the politics out of it? What else does the guy do?

Sigh,

17. PA: I was thinking this morning...
4:30, on the deck with coffee and smokes, looking at the stars, "I haven't seen a post by PA lately".
And here you are...
Thanks

9. Umm, Cubs
still have to get past Florida. But since they socked my favorite team, I'm pulling for them now.

Don't forget the mis-underestimated Carolina Panthers going to 4-0.

11. F*ck the Cubs...
they haven't won anything yet but a NLDS.

The last time the Cubs played in a World Series, the US and the world were recovering from WWII.

Since the last time the Cubs won a World Series:

Radio was invented.

Television was invented.

The NFL was founded.

The Great Depression has come and gone.

There have been two World Wars.

The atomic bomb was invented.

The US has had 16 presidents.

Halley's comet has appeared twice.

Wrigley field was built in 1914 and in the oldest baseball park in the major leagues.

Harry Carey was born, lived a good, long life into his 80s, and died.

12. The whole weekend rocked for me
Texas Tech beat the hell outta Texas A&M. I mean just slaughtered them. Texas won too.

My Cowboys won on Sunday. (I'm from northeast Texas so I'm allowed to be a life-long fan so I don't wanta hear it from Cowboy haters). :-)

Then the Sox won and the Cubs won and we're still on track for the Apocolypse series. :-)

14. McNabb threw 2 Int's and 1 touchdown
He didn't actually lead them to victory but the Eagles did one and McNabb did a decent job. Every QB has a bad season and McNabb can still turn it around, only 5 weeks went by.
